Innovative Technology Tools

Please enjoy this demonstration of a technology tool that is being developed. Imagine the possibilities if you had this tool around your neck!

What technology tools do you use in your personal life?
What technology tools do you have the opportunity to use in the classroom?

In what ways can teachers further implement these tools without disrupting the curriculum and daily classroom content?

What barriers do you as a student anticipate when integrating these tools?
What solutions can you offer your teachers and principal to overcome these barriers?

Please take a moment and complete this survey for Charter Day Middle School students.

  1. I use a laptop and am proficient with the microsoft office software and using the internet for research and information.

After watching this video, I can now say that I am not really technology literate. The Sixth Sense is a tool that pretty much thinks for you and has information right at the tips of your hands. The capabilities are endless. Implementing such a tool into my life or classroom is scary. I wonder if such a tool takes away from one's ability to reason and solve problems.

Technology can be implemented without interupting the integrity of the classroom if it enhances instruction, rather than take away from it. Technology must be a tool and not a toy.

One barrier to implmeneting technology is training and understanding the capabilities of the tool. Consistency, training, and time are issues at hand.

  2. I use the laptop and the projector conected to the computer to display things we are studying in class. We use the internet for much of the data and information we learned.
I feel that I am technology literate. I am good with all of the software we use and pick up on new things fairly quickly. I agree with you, Laura, when you say that training in proper use of the tool, not just being able to pull it up and show we have it is most important.
